sf world championship tournament (the "Tournament")
official rules and policies: no purchase or payment necessary to enter or win. a purchase does not increase your chances of winning.
1.) Sponsor. The Tournament is sponsored by Microgaming Technology Inc. (1601 Taipan Place, Ortigas, Pasig City) (referred to herein as "Sponsor"). The Tournament is open to all registered MyGame.ph members. no purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win. Your entry constitutes your full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and Regulations and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Tournament.
2.) Eligibility. You are only eligible to enter the Tournament if, as of September 26, 2008 you meet all of the following conditions: (a) are a legal resident of the Philippines; (b) are at least eighteen (18) years of age or older; (c) have a MyGame registered account and are the Authorized Account Holder (as defined below) of your own Internet email address corresponding to your registered account; (d) register for the Tournament on the www.MyGame.ph website during the Registration Period (as defined below); (e) have a PC or capable of renting one; (f) Have Special Force Online installed on said PC; (g) have a PC or able to rent one that meets the recommended published requirements to run Special Force, and (h) have a stable internet connection for your PC whether owned or rented. Directors, officers and employees of Sponsor, Sponsor’s parent, and any of their respective affiliate companies, subsidiaries, agents, professional advisors, advertising and promotional agencies, or any other person or entity involved in the design, production, execution or distribution of the Tournament, and the immediate families of each (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses) and those living in the same households are not eligible to enter or win any prizes. An "Authorized Account Holder" is defined as the natural person to whom an e-mail address is assigned by an Internet access provider, online service provider (yahoo, gmail, etc) or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. All local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Your entry constitutes your full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Tournament.
3.) How to Enter. To enter, you must register between September 26, 2008 to October 2, 2008 by doing the following: (a) log into your registered MyGame account and (b) visit the forums site http://forum.mygame.ph/index.php?topic=6544.0 where you must click to register, once you have entered the registration page you can register your team of 5 players, including yourself. One Team only per Clan must enter the contest. A Player will not be allowed to register in multiple teams. Each player registered will be notified via email, text or phone call for confirmation of their registration to a particular team and verification of registration data. The first One Hundred Twelve Teams (128) teams or 640 registrants will be processed as contestants ("Contestants") in the Tournament. Contestants will be notified via e-mail at the email address inputted during registration about their qualification, the Tournament schedule and their allotted time slot for the qualifying round. All other team registrants will be accepted on a waiting list and be notified via email as well. Wait-listed teams may be given a Tournament slot if one of the first 128 teams is deemed an invalid registration. Each 5 registered contestants will be registered as a team (“Team”) in the Tournament. We will not allow the same Contestant to be part of different Teams. A Team will not be allowed to register if one or more if its Contestants are already registered.
Registration Policy 1. All active Special Force Online Philippine accounts are entitled to join the tournament, provided the accounts meet the following requirements: a. Must be registered with the Real Name of the user/owner, e-mail address and In-game username. b. Must be updated with the user/owner's current and active contact numbers and email address c. Must have no record of any form of cheating in Special Force Online Philippines. d. Must be at least 18 years of age. e. Codenames must be decent and valid. Players with indecent or invalid codenames will not be allowed to participate. 2. An account can only join or register in the tournament once. Multiple entries or registrations will be automatically rejected (the whole team registration will be rejected) 3. Real name and Usernames will be used for registering your own and your teammates' accounts. Registering another account without the consent of the real owner will automatically forfeit the team registration. Each member will be verified via email. 4. The registration will be in a "first come, first server" basis. The first 128 Teams to register and be confirmed will automatically get the tournament slots. 5. We will be confirming all registrants regarding their registration. All registered members must be aware of their registration and must confirm their participation or the team will automatically forfeit their registration. 6. In cases of forfeits, the next registration will take its place. (Ex. Team number 100 forfeits, team 129 will take the 128th slot and teams 101 to 128 will move up 1 slot higher in the draw) 7. Once all slots have been filled up, registration will be closed. Team leaders will be asked to constantly check their email for their team's match schedule and other tournament details. 8. At this time, we cannot accept email address from Hotmail.com or Live.com due to some technical issues. Please refrain from registering on the tournament with these accounts. Duplicate registration In case of duplicate Registration, the Contestant in question will only be registered for the first team that has registered him/her. In cases that the Tournament staff finds a contestant willingly creates duplicate accounts and plays for separate teams, the entire Contestants’ Teams will be disqualified. The Tournament begins October 4, 2008 at 11:00am Philippine Standard Time and ends November 7, 2008 at 10:00pm Philippine Standard Time (the "Tournament Period").
4.) Participation and Tournament Rules: Participation Policy During the Registration Period, there will be one hundred and twenty eight (128) total time slots available for the Tournament consisting of one hundred and twenty eight (128) teams of five (5) Contestants each. If accepted as a Contestant of a Team, you must abide by the following rules in order to participate in the Tournament: • You must have a PC or be able to rent one; Special Force Online installed and working; and a stable internet connection. You must be able and ready to join your team for the Tournament that you are registered with (and provided in your email notification) within the time limit given for each match. If you cannot confirm your account information upon Tournament registration signup, then you will not qualify for this Tournament. • Submission of replay tape as defined by the submission rules. • Any misuse of chat such as using profane language, taunting or flooding, will result in the offending player’s disqualification at the sole discretion of the Tournament staff.
Match Policy 1. Teams must be online 10 minutes before their scheduled match in order to avoid unnecessary delays. 2. Teams must check their email for the following before the match: a. match schedule b. server and channel assignments c. match room password 3. Matches will promptly start once the GM has left the room, after 10 minutes. Incomplete teams must compete or forfeit. 4. Both Team Leaders are required to save replays. 5. Teams will only be allowed 3 hours starting from the start of their match. 6. Team leaders must follow the procedure and submit their respective replay tapes for winning games at the tournament email: tournament@mygame.ph. 7. Harassing GMs and other MyGame personnel will merit the player or team a sanction which will be given after the player or team is out of the tournament. The sanction will depend on the gravity of the offense. Disconnections, loss of service, Shorthanded Teams: • If a Contestant fails to join his/her Team during the scheduled time slot, the Team Leader must decide to forfeit the match or continue with one or more less players (“Shorthanded”). • Likewise, if a Contestant is disconnected or experiences technical problems which result to disconnection from the Tournament for any reason his team must continue shorthanded. If 3 or more members of the same team gets disconnected while the game is on loading status, the game, not the match, will be restarted. Otherwise, the match will continue. • It is the Team and Contestants responsibility to ensure an adequate connection and stay present for the duration of the Team’s matches. • If a Team Leader fails to participate in his Team’s scheduled Match, the Team automatically forfeits. Additional Restrictions on Contestants during the Tournament: • Sign-ups are limited to one slot per person. You may not use multiple usernames to enroll yourself in more than one Team within the Tournament. Contestants found to be disrupting the Tournament format in this manner will be immediately disqualified with no recourse for themselves; their Teams will also be disqualified and must reregister to participate. • Any disorderly behavior disqualifies a Team from participation, finals, or prizes. • Tournament staff members are the final arbiters in all situations, and they have the final say in every situation, including with respect to Tournament chat. • Please refrain from using harassing, negative, or profane language in the Tournament chat. • No cheats or hacks of any kind are to be used. Contestants will be disqualified if they are caught using any cheat or 3rd party "helper" applications. • Taking advantage of known exploits in the game is also considered cheating. Exploits in the game could include, without limitation, bugs that allow you to hide under obstacles or objects in the game to gain invulnerability, wallhacks, glitching, tapping, or any other action that would be interpreted as gaining an unfair advantage due to software or a game bug or a Map flaw. If a Tournament staff member finds that a Contestant of a Team has cheated, the Team will be disqualified immediately from the Tournament with no recourse. • The Tournament rules are subject to change at any time. If any changes to the rules occur, you will be notified through the Tournament news page and a Tournament forum post; a time stamp will be on any web pages that have been revised.
Game Rules 1. Any form of cheating will not be allowed. The GMs decision will be final. Any team with at least 1 member caught cheating will be disqualified and the cheating member/s will be banned/disqualified from the tournament. 2. There will be no match restart in case of member disconnection. Only the GMs can decide whether a restart is possible or needed. 3. Teams will only be allowed 3 hours to finish their match and submit the replay tape files to the assigned email address (tournament@mygame.ph) 4. Only registered accounts can be used throughout the match. Switching accounts during the match will not be allowed and will merit a disqualification. 5. Grenade Jumping or "Nade Jumping" is allowed. There is no unfair advantage for players who do this kind of tactic.
5.) Additional Instructions for Contestants and Teams: 1. Contestants who want to compete must register on the website for the Team, as the registrant of the Team; you will be known as the team leader (“Leader”). 2. The Team Leader is responsible for his/her Team. Including submitting replay tapes and communicating with Tournament officials. 3. If a Team is a no show for the time scheduled them, they forfeit the Match 4. To join a match, Contestants must check in for roll call, join the tournament match and check Tournament server name and password. 5. Please refer to the FAQs available on the Tournament website, which are hereby incorporated into these Official Rules, for more detailed information on schedules, planning for the matches, etc. 6. The Sponsor will provide high speed and robust game server functionality during this Tournament. These servers are located in the Philippines. The Sponsor is not responsible for lag, connectivity issues or anything else related to your online experience during this Tournament. The Sponsor will make these servers available in advance of the Tournament for Contestants to test their connection speed and practice in. If you have any questions about the game servers, please contact tournament@mygame.ph.
6.) Replay Tape Submission: Prior to their match, Team Leaders must purchase or must have at least a 90-day replay tape item. Only the Team Leader can submit the replay tape on the official tournament email address (tournament@mygame.ph). After each round of the match, the winning Team’s Leader is required to save a replay tape of the round. Both replay tape files of the match will be submitted by the Captain using the official tournament email address at tournament@mygame.ph within 3 hours after the match. Failure to submit the replay on time will result to a forfeit of the wining team. How to save and upload a replay tape: 1. Make sure that you have a Replay Tape item in your item inventory. You can purchase it at the Item Shop for free. 2. After each game, do not leave the waiting room; click on the Replay button and save the file. 3. After the match, locate the replay tape files at: C:\Program Files\Dragonfly\Special Force\data\save. 4. The last two (2) .rpl files in the list are the two (2) Replay Tape files you need. Kindly Rename them using this format: Match#ClanNameSide (Ex. Round1_GameMasters_Red) • Here are the definitions of the syntax of the filename i. Match = Match number for the day (Match 1 up to Match 64 on Preliminary Round 1) ii. Clan Name (must input complete registered Clan Name) iii. Side = must indicate which side the team is on this replay tape 5. Match numbers are pre-assigned and will be reminded to the participants by the GMs before starting the match.

Match Definitions: tournament round - Each match has a tournament round such the Preliminary Rounds, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals. When a match is played, the winning team for the match will move on to the next Tournament round. game – a race to specific wins, such as first to 5 wins in the Qualifier rounds. match – a set of games for each team to compete against sides - There are two different sides. When you choose a side there is always a blue and red side. ties – teams are in a deadlock state, tie breaker rules apply. sudden death - This will occur if there is a tie in the Finals rounds
Ties or Draws In the Preliminary round, cases of tied matches wherein both teams have the same number of team wins after the 2 rounds, the winning team will be the: (in order to succession) 1. Team with the most player kills (total of kills from all team players on both rounds) 2. Team with the least player deaths (total of deaths from all team players on both rounds) 3. Team who has the player with the most kills 4. Team who has the player with the least deaths among players with the highest kill total.
8.) Winner’s List. The names of the winners per round of competition can be obtained from the Tournament Subforum in the sf community Forums (http://forum.mygame.ph)
9). Selection and Notification of Winners. In the Tournament, the team that wins its match is the winner. All winners will be notified by e-mail at the e-mail address associated with their registration. Any prize notification or prize returned to Sponsor as undeliverable will be forfeited. Each potential winner may be requested to provide Sponsor with proof that he/she is the Authorized Account Holder of the e-mail address that corresponds to the registered account used to enter the Tournament. In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the Authorized Account Holder of such e-mail account. Limit one (1) prize per person. You are not a winner until your submission is validated and your documents are completed.
10.) General Conditions and Release Except where prohibited by law, each winner consents to the use of his/her name, registration details, likeness, voice and entry and the right to use and publish their scores, username, proper name and any statements made or attributed to such winner (collectively, the "Attributes") in any manner by Sponsor, its designees and its advertising and promotion agencies in any media now known or hereafter devised for advertising and promotional purposes in connection with the Tournament without further compensation or notification, review or approval, and releases Sponsor and its designees from all claims arising out of the use of such Attributes. Acceptance of a prize constitutes each winner’s consent to have his or her name released in a winner’s list which will be made available to the public. By entering this Tournament, winners agree to release, discharge and hold harmless Sponsor and any of its respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, divisions, or related companies, or their respective officers, directors, employees, or agents and Microgaming Technology Corporation and any of its respective parent companies, partners, distributors, licensors, affiliates, subsidiaries, divisions, or related companies, or their respective officers, directors, employees, or agents of the foregoing (collectively, the "Released Parties"), from any liability whatsoever, and waive any and all causes of action, related to any claims, costs, injuries, losses taxes, expenses or damages of any kind, either at law or in equity, whether known or unknown (collectively, "Losses"), arising, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, out of or in connection with this Tournament or any Tournament-related activity, or that the winners might incur as a result of this Tournament or acceptance, possession or use or inability to use any prize (including, without limitation, Losses related to personal injuries, death, damage to or destruction of property, rights of publicity or privacy, defamation or portrayal in a false light, whether intentional or unintentional), or for any printing, production, typographical, human, or other error in the printing, offering or announcement of any prize, whether under a theory of contract, tort (including negligence), warranty, guarantee (express or implied) or other theory. Winner further acknowledges that Released Parties are not liable for any warranty, representation, or guarantee express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any prize, including, but not limited to, its quality, mechanical condition, or fitness.
11.) Disclaimer. If for any reason the Tournament is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or force majeure that, in the sole opinion of Sponsor, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Tournament, Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with or abuses any aspect of the Tournament, as solely determined by Sponsor, and to cancel, terminate, modify or postpone the Tournament until a later date. Released Parties assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, or other failure of or related to the software platform on which the Tournament is played. Released Parties are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Sponsor on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, by human error which may occur in the ability to enter a participant’s entry, or any combination thereof or otherwise, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Tournament.
caution: any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage any web site or application or to undermine the legitimate operation of the tournament with any action or fraud is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such entrant to the fullest extent permitted by law.
12.) Miscellaneous. (a) By entering this Tournament, you agree and consent that any information you provide upon entering may be used by Microgaming Technology Corporation in accordance with its privacy policy, available at website. If you do not want your information used in this manner, do not enter this Tournament. If you disagree with any of the aforementioned rules, regulations and stipulations, do not enter this tournament.
